Ahmed knew he wanted a winter proposal, check…he also knew he wanted to display their lives through photos, enter in the Art Gallery Proposal.
When I first started working with Ahmed, he made it clear he wanted to display his life with Isha through images.
We started brainstorming some ideas of how he incorporate the images in the proposal while keeping the element of surprise. We chose the concept of the “cover up” being a Christmas party.
That’s when the Art Gallery Proposal started to take shape as he kept telling me that he had images that he specifically wanted to display.
Normally, men will choose images of the two of them that tells of their story, how they met to the moment he asks for her hand in marriage.
Ahmed had a different vision, the images that he chose were not of them as a couple but of the experiences they shared, the places they visited and the memories they created.
It was the perfect backdrop for The Art Gallery Proposal.
Now, keep in mind that we started planning in November and this was going to be a mid December proposal. When planning a winter proposal, you always need to keep in mind that in Chicago the weather changes minute by minute.
The planning started with finding the perfect venue.
We started with selecting a venue that would be intimate enough for this winter proposal but had the aesthetics of a modern open space. We found Room 1520 and it was exactly what we were looking for. Celeste was more than accommodating. She made sure we had everything we needed to put together the Art Gallery Proposal for when Ahmed and Isha entered the venue.
The cover up was simple, it was a “Christmas Party” for Ahmed’s company, as you walked in you would never think otherwise. We had a soundtrack playing in the background and the candles lit on every possible surface.
As Ahmed guided Isha through the entry space, where we displayed all of the images, Isha started to catch on. Remember, the images were not of the two of them so it was very easy to keep the surprise factor of the proposal for as long as possible.
He then guided her up a few steps to the proposal location.
Dana, the photographer was wonderful at capturing all of this, while staying out of site. They had a knock out mini photo session on the roof top with a gorgeous view of the city.
If you are thinking of a winter propoal but are afraid of weather conditions or are not wanting a Christmas themed proposal, we are here to create a custom propoal that is appropriate for the season but is uniquely yours.
